
Rafael Benitez is keen on signing Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o in the summer, according to reports in Spain.
Benitez wants to lower the burden on Fernando Torres after the sale of Robbie Keane back to Tottenham.
Eto’o wants to remain at Camp Nou until 2010 and Benitez is ready to wait until his price comes down.
The Cameroon international was close to leaving Barcelona in the summer however, he has played a key role as the Catalan club look to finish the season off in style, winning the La Liga title.
Benitez has been promised a £30million transfer kitty and Eto’o is one of the names on the Spaniard’s wish list along with Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry.
The ex-Valencia manager will also look to sign a right-winger and a right-back in the summer.
